Julah - 11 Months

Weight: 23 lbs
Sleeping: 8pm-8am, two naps during the day at 10am and 3pm
Eating: 8 oz formula. She’s not too keen on sippy cups yet and she prefers finger foods to baby food.
Diapers: Size 4. Her rash lasted for like 3 weeks! Finally quit using Target brand diapers and it disappeared within a day or two.
Clothing: 12-18 Month
Words: Very confidently chatters and is getting better about using “Mama” and “Dada”. When’s she’s done eating, she covers her eyes with her hands and hides from the food or lays her head down on her tray. She’s also very dramatic when she’s frustrated or tired and will lay her head down on the ground (then peek up and see if I’m paying attention) and repeat.
Favorite Toy: Her tea party act now includes sound effects. She goes “shhhhh” when she pours the tea and she clicks her tongue “click click click” when she drinks her tea. I also noticed that she goes “Rahhhhhhhh” when she plays with toy cars.
New Stuff: She loves to walk around while we hold her fingers.
Teeth: 6 teeth. 4 on top and 2 on the bottom.

My baby doll is so unique and special…and I can say that with authority as her Mom. I don’t want to forget anything about her babyhood and I’m starting to have panic attacks as her first birthday approaches. Did I blog enough? Take enough pictures? Videos? As desperately as I try to preserve her baby moments….time just keeps marching on and I know that my baby is disappearing into a beautiful toddler.
I’m so proud of her. This month she has started doing all kinds of crazy grown-up things. Every morning I put her Tea Set on the floor and she helps me set it up. Then I pour the tea she goes “shhhhhh” and then she picks up her cup and pretends to drink it while making little sipping sounds “click click click”. She’ll pick up her spoon and pretend to stir the pretend tea and then pass the cup to me to “share”.
I’ve really been working with Julah on sharing. It’s not something as an only child that she’s faced with on a daily basis, so I’ve been manufacturing opportunities to demonstrate to her the concept.  I’ll ask her to share a toy and she’ll hand it to me, then I’ll say “I’ll share with you” and hand it to her. When I’m eating my dinner, I’ll say “I’ll share with you” before I give her some. Yesterday I asked her, “Will you share with me?” and she smiled really big and handed me her toy. She’s getting it!
Mid-February she started reaching for me to pick her up out of her carseat. She’ll even “help” you get the straps off her shoulders so that you can pick her up even quicker. Here's a pic of her new "big girl" car seat. No more baby bucket for her!

Yesterday (2/22) I was laying on my side on the carpet next to Julah who was playing with her toys and looked up at me. She dropped her toy and crawled over and pressed her cheek up against my stomach and leaned in with all her weight and then looked at me and did it again. It was like she was hugging me in her own baby way. I picked her up and set her in my lap and gave her a good hug and she smiled so big…like “yeah Mom…I’m glad you get me.”

She's ohhhhh sooooo sweet, but she's also spicy. Especially in shopping carts and high chairs. Here's some pictures of her in action in her favorite trapezes...the shopping cart and high chair. This little houdini can undo any strap, turn around, and be bouncing up and down like she's riding a bronco in 2.3 seconds.
