Zoe’s first month was a little bit of a blur to me as I was readmitted to the hospital with Pre-Eclampsia and Congestive Heart Failure when she was 4 days old. We were sent home from the hospital on Sunday, February 11th. My blood pressure was very high and I was extremely swollen with fluids, but they expected it to normalize on its own. On Tuesday night I had a lot of trouble breathing due to my lungs filling with fluid. I was admitted to the hospital for a week, much of which is a blur to me.

Our sweet friends and family carried us through our scary ordeal with prayer, support, meals, and love. Specifically in caring for the kids: MeMaw (my dear friend Tammy) left work and drove down from Denton to care for Zoe, YaYa and Papa Rex (our kid’s Dallas Grandparents, Elaine & Rex) took care of Julah, and Duffy took care of me. I was in such bad shape on Friday night that Tammy and Duffy had to stay with me at the hospital and Zoe stayed with the Rose family. Her first slumber party at one week old! Grandee & Grandpa (my parents) took their turn with the kiddos from Friday-Wednesday. I made it home in time for Thanksgiving, a huge answer to prayer!

Another huge blessing in all of this was that Zoe was such a sweet and easy baby. She was constantly loved and held by family that adored her, and even made several trips up to the hospital to spend time cuddling with her Mommy.
