"And I'll praise you in this storm, and I will lift my hands for You are who You are no matter where I am, and every tear I've cried You hold in your hand You never left my side and though my heart is torn ...I will praise You in this storm."
Sometimes really tough, awful, painful things happen...and God doesn't stop them from happening, and it doesn't even look like He's buffering the pain at all. Our fleshly side looks around and wonders where He is and how He could be allowing such awful things to happen. It's not until we look up that we see Him, gently hovering, watching, acting in our best interests, and loving us enough to let us hurt. It's through this pain that we will be transformed, that we will grow, and we will become more like Christ.
If you had children - would it be loving to never make them do their homework, exercise, or eat their vegetables? Sometimes the most loving thing you can do as a parent is make your kids do something or go through something that they're resisting - but you love them enough to push them through it. If God didn't love us, He would let us move through life never being challenged or streched...and in the process - never growing. His love for us is bigger than that. He is willing to let us be angry with him, to hurt, and to experience loss - because it's ultimately better for us. In the process, our flesh is rooted out and our weaknesses revealed. It's only then that we can begin strengthening the weaknesses and addressing the areas of unbelief.
