Update: October 2010

by: Charis

As always - this month has been full of surprises, trips, new information, and tough decisions. Just another month in the life of the Johnsons!

Shortly after we made the decision to not keep the October baby, we found out that the birth mother had already had the baby and decided to keep him herself. Please pray for this baby as she does not have the means to provide for him nor give him the medical attention he will need. Also - please pray for the other family that was hoping to adopt him as they must be incredibly disappointed.

The first week of October, Duffy and I went to El Salvador to participate in a Habitat for Humanity Global Village build. We had a great time - I'll post a few pictures and descriptions as time permits in later posts.

We did a third round of IUI in October, our first fertility procedure since our miscarriage in August. Our Doctor had high hopes for us since women are typically very fertile after a miscarriage. Alas, it was not God's plan for us - the pregnancy test last Friday was negative. A sonogram also showed that I have 3 cysts on my right ovary, which means we have to pause any future treatments/procedures until they clear up. Talk about adding insult to injury!

Our next step will to be another round of IVF (invitro-fertilization) sometime before the end of the year. Hopefully the third time will be the charm!

Right now, Duffy and I are sitting in the airport in London, England waiting to catch a connecting flight to Cape Town, South Africa. We're on our way to the Third Congress on World Evangelization (www.lausanne.org) - so exciting! Duffy will be blogging about our experiences this week - so stay tuned for updates!
