This week Julah has been such a joy. She starts every morning by greeting me with a huge smile, cooing and laughing. She's still trying to get those fingers in her mouth and after struggling for a few seconds, will get frustrated and start crying. I feel like I'm really getting to know her: what she likes/doesn't like, what she wants, what her cries mean, and what she's anticipating next. It's amazing getting to know the person inside that little cuddly body.

In the summer of 1981, my Mom watched the royal wedding of Diana & Charles with me (2 months old) sitting in her lap. This week, we repeated the tradition as Julah (2 months old) sat in my lap as we watched the royal wedding of Kate & William. Well...we watched for awhile, then Duffy caught us sleeping through the rest of it.

On May 3rd, my baby officially turned 2 months old! The time is flying by. I'm cherishing every single moment and trying to just take it all in...and remember and document every second of it!

On Wednesday the 4th, she had her first set of shots. Duffy & I really deliberated what to do about these, but in the end decided to protect Julah against the "known" dangers (what the diseases could cause) versus the "unknown" dangers (what the vaccines could cause). The nurse entered the room and said, "Hi, I'm Marissa and I'm here to make your baby cry." Before we knew it, she'd given her the shots and run out of the room....wishing us luck as she went. Julah screamed once and then stopped when I picked her up. She was a little fussy the next day, but nothing too bad.

The next night we went to dinner with our friends Zach and Bethany. No sooner had we gotten our food and I asked them "So are y'all thinking about having kids?", Julah threw up all over herself, filling the sling I had her nestled in, and covering me. I told Duffy to grab her bag as I raced to the bathroom where I stripped her down and gave her a bath in the sink. Of course, Duffy couldn't come in the ladies room so he sent Bethany in his place. Lucky Duffy...poor Bethany. While I put a new diaper on her, & wrapped her in a blanket, Bethany was so sweet to wash out the clothes. I think the whole scenario added 3 years to their plan to have kids.

We also took lots of walks this week - even though it was a bit chilly:
