I celebrated the anniversary of my 25th birthday this past week, Wednesday April 15, amongst a plethora of family and friends. The day began with Duffy bringing me my favorite breakfast, a chic-fil-a breakfast biscuit and singing me happy birthday. When I got to work, a gorgeous flower arrangement with balloons (that would sing happy birthday when you smacked it) was waiting on my desk, compliments of my sweet husband. My boss surprised me with a party including the most decadent chocolate cake ever made and several people from around the church were able to come by. Throughout the day I got calls, texts, and emails from friends and family - and most of them making plans to see me or celebrate my birthday at a later date. My radar was on alert for surprises, but I figured with so many key people unable to see me that night - there definitely wouldn't be a surprise dinner, etc.
I was wrong! When we walked into Macaroni Grill, the hostess played it cool asking if we wanted a table or booth, walked us around the corner, and everyone yelled "Surprise!" Friends, family, the people who swore they were busy and couldn't hang out, the people who'd made plans to see me that weekend, and people who'd told me they were out of town - were all there smiling at me. The joke was on me - but I couldn't have been happier.
It was a great day with great people - but the best part was all the planning and thought that Duffy had put into it. He made sure that I felt special every minute throughout the day and topped it off with a gorgeous gift - pearl earrings (from James Avery - those who know me well know that I love all things JA.) -Charis
