We started this week out with a BANG! Thursday morning, I woke Julah up, gave her a bath, and we headed off to my Mom’s Bible Study. When I took her out of her carseat and laid her on her mat, I noticed a red mark on the back of her arm about 3 inches long and ½ inch wide. It looked like she was bleeding underneath the skin and it was spreading. After watching it grow another inch during prayer time, I asked the Pediatric nurse that was there what she thought, and she said I should take Julah in to the Doctor that day and get it checked out.

Her pediatrician couldn’t get her in, so we headed straight to the ER. I called Duffy and he was leading a lunch meeting. He answered with the standard, “Hey can I call you back?” and for the first time I said, “NO, I need to talk now.” He left the meeting and met us at the ER as we were being called in. The Doctors were a little perplexed, so they ran a bunch of bloodwork. Poor baby. It was so hard for them to find a vein to draw blood from. Her chubby little arms weren’t showing the veins at all! She handled it like a champ though. Her bloodwork all came back normal, so we’re just watching it for now. It stopped spreading and has turned from bright red to a darker maroon color and is fading. It’s never seemed to hurt her at all or be tender. It remains a mystery!

On Friday at work, I got the news that my position was no longer needed. I had been working on a three year project, but finished the work early…essentially working myself out of a job a year early. Looks like Julah is stuck with me for awhile. Duffy’s a little excited to have a stay-at-home-wife. He informed me immediately that he was done doing laundry. We’ll see about that.

On Saturday we left for North Carolina again. It was great to see baby Addison again, only two weeks old! We did a little photoshoot, but our models were little divas and didn't cooperate.
On Sunday, Julah went to church and had her North Carolina baby shower! It was a blast! (More pictures in a seperate post)
Monday was Julah’s first Memorial Day! We spent it at Papa Mac & Grandma Ann's house. Julah went swimming for the first time and really loved the water. Duffy helped show her how to float and Charis, Jorge, and Reyna pulled her around the pool in her baby floaty.
After swimming, we ate dinner and Papa Mac made us homemade ice cream. We sat on the backporch and ate, and talked, and laughed...such a good day.
On Tuesday, “Nana” (Duffy’s Mom) had her yearly awards banquet. She thought we’d left town on Monday, but we’d really stayed at Chalet’s house. Her high school students surprised her at the banquet by having BOTH her grandkids present. She loved it!
On Wednesday morning, Duffy went up to the high school and taught a dance class. Julah went up to visit all decked out in a tutu and leg warmers.

Back to Dallas on Wednesday, (Julah was playing peek-a-boo with her blanket on the plane) and back to work on Thursday to turn in my computer and say goodbye to everyone. June 1, 2009 - June 3, 2011 …it was a great run Habitat for Humanity! I’ll miss you guys!
