For the past week, Duffy has been convinced that our Doctor did the math wrong and that we were due on March 15, not March 8. Today, she confirmed that she'd made a mathmatical error and we were in fact only 7 weeks along, due on March 15. Duffy didn't say "I told you so," but he sure smiled it at me.
We learned a few more things about Baby Johnson today, good things being:
- He is 7.1mm which is normal
- His heart is beating at 134 bpm, which is great
- His sonographic age at 6 weeks 6 days, was 6 weeks 4 days, which is good
- The baby is the white blob in the center of the black circle. The smaller black circle next to it is the yoke sac.
We also learned that the yoke sac is a little large, which is a "not-so-good" thing to hear. A size greater than 6mm during weeks 5-7 is considered abnormally large and ours was 6.5mm. Although our doctor told us not to worry about it...it can be an early indicator of a chromosomal defect and impending miscarriage. Not the news we wanted to hear. "A normally developing pregnancy at 8 weeks' gestation, signified by an embryo length of 15-17mm has a 97% chance of a live delivery"....so please be praying that our little baby grows to 15mm, has a healthy heartbeat, and that yoke sac doesn't grow any larger before my next sonogram next week, Thursday, July!
